Port Dolls
My Chemo Fairy is a way to bring JOY to families experiencing cancer. My Chemo Fairy gives a child and their family something positive to look forward to when it comes time for their chemotherapy treatment, or any cancer treatment, and is a way for others to show their support and encouragement. These magical fairies come to visit children who are battling cancer during their treatments, bringing along a healthy dose of positivity and encouragement.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, they either have a port (aka: port-a-cath, central venous catheter), or a broviac (a long term central line) surgically placed which is used to administer their chemotherapy, blood transfusions, fluids, etc. To help ease the child’s anxiety of being "accessed," this organization sends children (4 years and older) a personalized Lovie Buddie which not only has a port just like them, but it also comes with a medical kit filled with the same “safe” supplies that are used on our kiddos fighting cancer.
Tindle Designs is an Etsy shop that sells ports for dolls. For $7, you can order one of these porta caths and sew it to your child's favorite doll. Click on their logo to go straight to the appropriate listing to purchase this item.
